The letter O is outstanding!
It's round, shaped like a circle, and has a hole in the middle.
During Alphabet Play, we learned how to make the letter O with our hands through a quick fingerplay:
Here is an O (thumb & index finger)
And here's an O (2 hands to form an O)
And a great big O you see (use both arms for an O)
Are you ready?
Can you count them?
1, 2, 3 !
O is for:
O is for octopus – it has eight legs
O is for omelet – it's made out of eggs
O is for old – the opposite of young
O is for opera – where lots of songs are sung
O is for otter – it lives by the sea
O is for oxygen – we need it to breathe
O is for orange – watch out for the seeds
O is for October – lots of falling leaves
O is for octagon – an eight sided shape
O is for olive – it looks like a grape
O is for office – where work is done
O is for ostrich – see how fast they run!
We enjoyed a yummy snack of Alpha-Bits cereal, that was provided by our sponsor Post Alpha-Bits while we made our O craft.
Our uppercase O was an Owl and our lowercase o was an Ostrich.
We even made a handprint octopus and an oyster!
