March Break Fun in Niagara

It has been a long, cold, snowy winter and I think we are all ready for a break! For those of you that won’t be boarding a plane for somewhere sunny and warm, here is your guide to free or almost free events across Niagara!

Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library

Superhero Week!  Check out the lineup of free events and be sure to sign up in advance

 

Welland Public Library – Times vary each day.  All programs are free

There is something to do each day at both the Main Branch as well as the Diamond Trail Branch.  There are events for all ages as well as some for school aged children.  Come out for superhero training, crafts wars, a masterchef competition and so much more!

Grimsby Public Library – Times and cost vary each day.  Cost is minimal, if any

There is a great selection of fun things to do all week.  From magic shows, to puppet theatre, story times and dinosaur exhibits. Fun for all ages!

Be sure to get your tickets in advance and check the calendar for program times.

 

St. Catharines Public Library

Each day is something different and there is something for everyone of all ages!  Be sure to call now to register as some programs are already sold out.

 

The Art Hub

Monday March 16 – Friday March 20 8am – 3 pm

 $96 for the full week.  You must register in advance

This program is for children from grade 1 – 6 and there will be arts, crafts, painting and other fun too!

Parents must provide lunch and snacks.

 

YMCA Niagara

The YMCA in Niagara has lots of options for fun the whole week long.  You can choose to register your child for the entire week or just take advantage of the daily events for about $30 per day. 

Events are organized according to your child’s age so your child is sure to have a good time.

Parents should pack their child a litterless, healthy lunch and snacks.

Tuesday, March 17 2:00

Little Ray's Reptiles – Pre-registration is recommended and there is a $2 suggested donation

Radical Science is their special brand of programs and shows aimed at scientific education and animal awareness, designed to bring out and inspire the young scientist, environmentalist, or animal enthusiast in all of us.

 

 

Wednesday March 18 2:00 or 3:00 seatings

Victorian Tea Party – Pre-registration is required and there is a $2 suggested donation

For children ages 5-12

Bring your child for an official tea party!  Complete with some history of tea and clothing worn in the Victorian days.  Your child will learn proper etiquette for a tea party and get to enjoy some tea and tasty snacks.

Thursday March 19 2:00

Club Rex Dinosaurs – Pre-registration is required and a suggested donation of $2

For all of the dinosaur enthusiasts out there, you won’t want to miss this!  A very hands on, fun exploration of the world of dinosaurs.

Heartland Forest – Monday-Friday 9am-4pm $30/day or $130/week

Great for those outdoor adventurers!  There is something fun and exciting every day during March Break at Heartland Forest.  Each day has a different theme and will include scavenger hunts, team challenges, nature hikes, campfires with marshmallows and tons more.  You can come for a day or come for the whole week.  Register Here

*Parents much provide a lunch for their child and morning snack is provided.

 

Zehrs Superstore St. Catharines – Cooking Classes – $30 per class

In this hands on cooking workshop kids will prepare and eat a variety of foods.  Themes include chocolate chip cookies, comfort food, breakfast food and lasagne.

Register in advance online or in store at the customer service desk.
